Congratulations to Dr. Ellen Akers, the new Director of Employee Health and Wellness for Goose Creek CISD! Dr. Akers brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having previously served as the Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction within GCCISD. Prior to her career in education, she spent 15 years as an insurance broker and corporate trainer.

Dr. Akers holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, a Master’s in Education Administration, and a Doctorate in Education Administration with a specialization in technology. She has been married to Bruce for 25 years, and they have a daughter, Alexa, who is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Communication at Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

Dr. Akers shared her enthusiasm for her new position: "I’m delighted to be the Director of Employee Health and Wellness because it allows me to positively impact the well-being of our staff, ensuring they have the support, resources, and care they need to thrive both personally and professionally. Serving the dedicated individuals in our school district is a privilege, as their wellness directly contributes to a healthier, more vibrant community for our students and beyond."
