Fine Arts salute

The Robert E. Lee High School Band did well at the Region 10 Honor Band auditions by placing 23 students in the band with 13 of them making Area F Honor Band by advancing to the next audition toward membership in the Texas All-State Band.

The students making region and area are Shelby Olive, Kristin Lofton, Amy Epperson, Ashley Montgomery, Cesar Castro, Jackie Gonzalez, William Botting, Erika Reyes, Garrett Floyd, Enrique Mendez, Alec Reeves, and Juan Castro. Courtney Poole also made area.

REL students making region are Reyna Paredes, Keshante Flowers, CelesteTrejo, Jonathan Jaime, Arianna Mata, Evan Sanchez, Carmen Mendoza, Benjamin Lopez, David Smith, Steven Torres, and Jonathan Smith. Elias Lazo made alternate.

Orchestra students earn regional recognition

The Goose Creek CISD orchestra students excelled at regional competition in November.

Goose Creek’s orchestra students at the junior school level placed 53 out of the 60 regional concert positions, and the high school orchestra students placed 42 out of 66 regional concert positions. Overall, Goose Creek students earned 95 of the 126 positions in the regional orchestra clinic and concert that will be held in Nederland on Jan. 22 and Jan. 23. This is quite an accomplishment for our Junior High and High School students. Below are the students and their schools.

Artists fare well at art exhibition
On Dec, 3, the City of Baytown sponsored the 43rd Annual Baytown Art Exhibition show at Baytown Community Center. There were more than 600 students participating from Goose Creek CISD, Barbers Hill ISD, La Porte ISD, Baytown Christian Academy and Schocler School.

Goose Creek students from kindergarten through 12th grade entered the event, and the district had 16 pieces receive first place, second place or third place, and 27 pieces earned honorable mention.
