Goose Creek Board OKs
calendar adjustments
The Goose Creek Board of Trustees approved some minor changes to the current school calendar Monday, August 31, 2009.
The Board voted to designate April 5, previously a "Bad Weather Day" holiday, as a full instructional day for students. The adjustment is necessary because fifth-graders and eighth-graders will be taking reading and mathematics TAKS tests on April 6 and 7.
The Board also moved the "District Early Release/Last Student Day" from June 3 to June 2. Thus, the last teacher workday will move from June 4 to June 3.
Further, the Board designated June 4 as a "Bad Weather Day." In the event that schools are closed because of inclement weather or for some other reason, June 3 would become the final student day and June 4 would become the final teacher workday.
The Board-approved changes to the school calendar will not change the graduation dates for Goose Creek's three high schools.
The District does not anticipate any other changes to the 2009-2010 Instructional Calendar.
