Goose Creek CISD graduates 23 in summer ceremony
Diplomas were awarded to 23 graduating seniors from three Goose Creek CISD high schools at the district’s summer commencement.
The graduates who walked the stage of Baytown Junior School Auditorium at the Aug. 17 ceremony included seven from Lee High School, four from Sterling High School, and 12 from Goose Creek Memorial High School.
Michelle Verdun, principal of the Peter E. Hyland Center, presided over the commencement exercises.
“Summer graduation is a unique and special graduation for Goose Creek,” said Mrs. Verdun. “This special graduation gives Goose Creek graduates an opportunity to participate in a graduation ceremony whereas for some reason were not able to participate in their home campus regular May graduation.”
Several members of the Board of Trustees, superintendent, central office staff, high school principals, assistant principals, and counselors were all in attendance.
Cumulatively, for the 2011-2012 school year, Lee High School awarded 378 diplomas, Sterling High School handed out 481 diplomas, and Goose Creek Memorial High School handed out 342 diplomas.
