GCCISD Thanks City of Baytown for Special Needs Nights
Mike Flinn (middle), manager of the Pirates Bay Water, accepts a certificate of appreciation from Goose Creek CISD at a recent meeting of the Board of Trustees. The GCCISD Special Education Department has collaborated with the City of Baytown for the past two years to offer Special Needs Nights at the waterpark. More than 3,000 special needs students and their families, including those in 34 other school districts, have enjoyed the events. Last spring, the City of Baytown Parks and Recreation Department received the Lone Star Programming Award from the Texas Recreation and Park Society for the Pirates Bay Special Needs Nights. Pictured with Flinn are (from left) Megan Dickey, special education coordinator; Dr. Tom Kelchner, director of special education; Randal O’Brien, GCCISD superintendent and Al Richard, board president.
