GCCISD Students Win Big at Baytown Youth Fair
By: Kristyn Hunt Cathey, Director of Communications
Students from across the city of Baytown, many from Goose Creek CISD, participated in the 62nd annual Baytown Youth Fair April 18-22nd. The week-long event was created to provide Baytown youth an opportunity to exhibit their agricultural and homemaking projects. GCCISD students showed off their best lambs, goats, rabbits and more for a chance to be named a winner at the event. Two students from GCCISD won the top award: Grand Champion. Coleman Smalley, a ninth grade student at Ross S. Sterling High School, earned Grand Champion for his swine, which sold for $10,000. Hannah Griffice, a ninth grade student at Goose Creek Memorial High School, earned Grand Champion for her steer, which sold for $20,000.
