GCCISD Celebrates National Construction Appreciation Week

National Construction Appreciation Week recognizes the dedicated, hard-working men and women instrumental in the development of our infrastructure. Recognized the third week in September, it aims to inspire a national conversation about construction and how it is vital to the American infrastructure and facilities.

The Goose Creek CISD Facilities Planning and Construction department, led by Brenda Garcia, facilitates all construction-related projects in the district. The department completed several projects during the 2021-2022 school year, including: the rebuild of San Jacinto Elementary, construction of Jessie Lee Pumphrey Elementary School, Shelia C. Liles Early Learning Academy, E.F. Green Junior School, Robotics Center; and phase four of the Stuart Career Technical High School; just to name a few. The construction of the new Robert E. Lee Fine Arts building is underway for the 2022-2023 school year as well as several other projects designed to uplift the district’s infrastructure.

 

The district recognizes the importance of the Facilities Planning and Construction team and applaud them for the work they do to make the district and city better.

 

Dr. Demetrius McCall, Deputy Superintendent of Administrative Services, oversees the department which includes the following employees: Brenda Garcia, Director of Facilities Planning and Construction; Bruce Riggs, Assistant Director of Facilities Planning and Construction; Ed Martir, Senior Project Manager; Project Managers Carl Burg, Jessie Garcia and Lacey Spells; Arlene Blanco-Chapa, Construction Accounting Analyst and Terri Perez, Secretary.
