After an incredible display of strength and determination, Baytown Lee's Girls' Powerlifting team placed 2nd out of 11 teams in the 5A Large school classification during the Region 4 Division 1 5A Large tournament, held in Alvin ISD on February 28th. Alyssa Dickens (Junior) placed 1st in the 105-weight class with a 605-pound total. Celera Bejarano (Junior) placed 1st in the 220-weight class with a 780-pound total. In the 259-weight class, Valeria Rivera (Sophomore) placed 1st with an 805-pound total and Stephanie Martinez (Sophomore) placed 2nd with a 795 pound total. All four students are advancing to the 5A Large State competition in Frisco, TX on March 17-18. Additionally, Sheyla Ortiz (Freshman) placed 5th in the 114-weight class. Alejandra Garcia (Sophomore) placed 7th in the 148-weight class. Finally, Christina Buenrostro (Sophomore) placed 7th in the 198-weight class.

Four lifters (Bejarano, Rivera, Martinez, and Dickens) qualified for the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association (THSWPA) State Championship that will be held in Frisco, TX on March 18th.
