Goose Creek CISD announces the release of two groundbreaking publications that celebrate their commitment to providing equitable opportunities for all students. These publications, titled "Rethinking Dual Enrollment as an Equitable On-Ramp to a Career-Path College Degree Program After High School" and "DEEP Insights: Redesigning Dual Enrollment as a Purposeful Pathway to College and Career Opportunity," represent a significant milestone in GCCISD’s ongoing efforts to expand access to debt-free college degrees and support the success of their diverse student population.

In the first publication, "Rethinking Dual Enrollment as an Equitable On-Ramp to a Career-Path College Degree Program After High School," Columbia University presents a compelling case for a new approach to dual enrollment. In a partnership with Lee College, GCCISD offers evidence for the four areas of DEEP (Dual Enrollment Expansion and Equity Pathways) practice and delves into the potential costs, incentives, and opportunities for scaling these practices. The DEEP approach marks a transformative shift from traditional thinking, which often viewed dual enrollment as "programs of privilege" or "random acts." Instead, the district prioritizes outreach to communities underrepresented in higher education and at high schools with lower college-going rates.

The second publication, also written sponsored by Columbia University, "DEEP Insights: Redesigning Dual Enrollment as a Purposeful Pathway to College and Career Opportunity," offers invaluable ideas for redesigning dual enrollment based on field research at six promising community college-K-12 partnerships in Florida and Texas. These partnerships have extended guided pathways practices to dual enrollment offerings, achieving impressive results in expanding college access and opportunities for Black, Hispanic, and low-income high school students. This report highlights key components observed in each of the four areas of DEEP practices, showcasing inspiring examples from Lee College and GCCISD.
These publications are a testament to the incredible work being done in the district and the positive impact it has on the students' futures. GCCISD is committed to providing exceptional educational opportunities to all students. The district believes in the power of education to transform lives, and the dual enrollment initiatives exemplify their dedication to expanding access to college and career pathways for every student. With a focus on equity and innovation, GCCISD continues to set new standards in education and inspire excellence in students, educators, and communities.
