Adrienne Sun, District Director for State Representative Briscoe Cain, was instrumental in GCCISD obtaining the Sterling High School Army JROTC program grant from the Moody Foundation and the JROTC approval by the U.S. Army. She assisted GCCISD with these approvals through Cain’s letters and his support communication, resulting in the Moody Foundation approving the JROTC grant, totaling $310,475.00.
After a long-standing partnership with the Marines from 1977 to 2023, GCCISD began the new Army JROTC program in August 2023 with the help of Judy Dubose, a retired Army veteran and Class of 1973 Sterling graduate. Dubose contributed greatly to building the program and ensuring that GCCISD would maintain a JROTC program in the district.
The dedication and commitment to the JROTC program by Senator D. Mays Middleton II, State Representative Briscoe Cain, Adrienne Sun, and Judy Dubose are truly commendable. The district values their contributions and eagerly anticipates the expansion and success of the Army JROTC program at GCCISD.
