Baytown, Texas — The Goose Creek CISD Education Foundation is thrilled to announce the receipt of a generous grant from the GPD Group Employees' Foundation, which provided essential resources for the district’s Resiliency Room program. This funding marks an invaluable opportunity to support student parents at Peter E. Hyland Center as they balance their academic coursework with the responsibilities of parenting.
Originally launched with a grant from the Bay Area Council on Drugs & Alcohol (BACODA), the Resiliency Room program has become a vital resource for student parents, offering free access to necessary baby and parenting supplies, such as diapers, formula, and hygiene products. The GPD Group Employees' Foundation grant allowed the Resiliency Room to restock these essentials and expand its support as the program enters its second year.
“We’re incredibly grateful to the GPD Group Employees' Foundation for its commitment to empowering our student parents,” said Dr. Anna Espinoza, Goose Creek CISD Education Foundation Director. “Their support helps reduce the financial strain on these students, allowing them to concentrate on their education while knowing they have access to crucial supplies for their children. This investment will make a lasting impact on both student parents and their children.”
The Resiliency Room program, housed at Peter E. Hyland Center, is dedicated to helping student parents continue their education by alleviating some of the challenges they face. With children cared for at the on-site daycare, student parents can pursue their academic goals, bolstered by the resources and support of the Resiliency Room. In addition to providing essentials, the program also fosters a supportive environment where campus staff can work closely with student parents on childcare knowledge and parenting skills.
Looking ahead, the Education Foundation is reaching out to local businesses and community organizations to secure further partnerships, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Resiliency Room. The Foundation hopes to establish a network of community support through potential collaborations and community drives.
