Goose Creek CISD’s Best in Bilingual Education Recognized as HAABE Finalists

Goose Creek CISD proudly announces their district finalists for the 2024-2025 HAABE Awards! The Houston Area Association for Bilingual Education (HAABE) works to serve and support the education of linguistically and culturally diverse students and to support and promote the growth of their educators. These outstanding educators have demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership, and passion for serving their emergent bilingual students. Their commitment to excellence in bilingual and ESL education has earned them the honor of representing the district at the regional level.

Congratulations to the GCCISD HAABE Finalists!

  • Excellence in Bilingual Teaching: Irasema Cisneros (Bañuelos Elementary)
  • Rising Star Bilingual Teacher of the Year: Nora Sandoval (Lamar Elementary)
  • Excellence in ESL Teaching – Elementary: Maria Fuentes (Lamar Elementary)
  • Rising Star ESL Elementary Teacher of the Year: Purnima Rahlon (Crockett Elementary)
  • Excellence in ESL Teaching – Secondary: Alexa Augustine (Cedar Bayou Jr)
  • Leadership Champion Award: Faith Longorio (Associate Director for Social Studies and World Languages-LOTE)

 

GCCISD is incredibly proud of these educators and their dedication to bilingual education. They will now advance to the regional competition, where they will compete against the best bilingual and ESL educators in the Houston area.
