Lavan Selected as the Director of Fine Arts


Goose Creek CISD welcomes Ray Lavan, our new director of fine arts, back to the district. Mr. Lavan served in West Orange-Cove CISD as the director of bands from 2006-2013 before starting his administrative career in the district as an assistant principal. In 2016, he joined Goose Creek CISD as an assistant principal at Sterling High School. In 2019, Mr. Lavan went to Beaumont ISD, where he served as an associate principal, principal at Paul A. Brown Learning Center, and most recent director of fine arts.


Mr. Lavan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Instrumental Music Education from McNeese State University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Lamar University. He is currently working on his Doctor of Organizational Leadership at Abilene Christian University. He has a School Management & Leadership Certification from Harvard University and an Executive Leadership Certification from Rice University.


Lavan is married to Diztorsha Lavan, a U.S. History teacher at Goose Creek Memorial.
